Admission Rules

• Although a Catholic College, meant primarily for Catholics, it also admits other children irrespective of caste and creed.
• Application for admission is to be submitted at the time notified every year.
• Candidates to be admitted to LKG should be a minimum of three and half years old.
• Candidates seeking admission to all the other Classes are to sit for an admission test on a date fixed by the College.
• Admission to Class XI will be based not merely on marks but on the student’s conduct and regularity in attendance.
• Parents/guardians should take care to fill in the correct date of birth and the name of the child in the application form. No subsequent changes will be permitted for any reason whatsoever.
• Admission to children who have attended other Schools is granted only after they have produced a Transfer Certificate from the former School.
• Students are admitted on the understanding that they will remain in the College at least for the entire academic year.

Withdrawal Rules

• The Transfer Certificate will be issued only when the College dues have been cleared.
• A week’s time is to be given for the issuing of any certificate or document from the College.
• Pupils discontinuing in the middle of the term shall pay fees for the entire term.
• Notice for withdrawal should be given in writing at least one month in advance.
• The application for Transfer Certificate should be submitted in the office along with the fee.
• The College authority can dismiss a student on any of the following grounds: vandalising College property, indulging in destructive activities, disobedience to College authorities/teachers, continuous weakness in studies, irregularity in attendance, misbehaviour, non-payment of fees or irregularity in payment.

Student’s Code of Conduct

“Discipline is the continual exercise of the will, enlightened by the intellect,so that it may act easily and habitually according to the right order and help to attain self-mastery.”

• Every student of Stella Maris Inter College must possess the willingness to comply with the rules and regulations of the College. The students are expected to maintain the decorum of the College and should conduct themselves in a refined manner.
• English is strictly the medium of communication within the College campus. All conversation between teachers, students and among the students themselves should be in English excepting in the Hindi period.
• The College begins with Assembly and all are expected to be present for the same. Students must reach the College at least ten minutes before the Assembly bell. At the first bell they should all assemble in absolute silence.
• Latecomers will not be allowed to attend the sessions of the day unless they bring a note to the teacher from the Principal. The College reserves the right of sending the latecomers back to their home.
• The College gate will be closed five minutes prior to the College Assembly.
• All the students must be clean and tidy in their person, dress and manners. Parents are requested to send their children to the College neatly dressed without which they will be refused admission to the class.
• Every student should bring the College Diary daily.
• Punctual and regular attendance, earnestness in home assignments and good behaviour in and outside the College are always insisted on.
• In all these matters parents’ full cooperation is expected at all times. They should check the College Diary regularly and note the Teacher’s remarks.
• The students should keep their books clean, neatly covered, with their name written on them. All the prescribed Text books and copies should be bought before the opening of the College.
• Students not adhering to the College uniform code may call for disciplinary action inclusive of being sent back home.
• No student should leave the College premises during the College hours without the written permission of the Principal.
• Unknown persons, relatives or servants will be not be allowed to come and fetch their child from the College incase of an emergency or any unforeseen situation.
• Irregular attendance, unjustified or unexplained absence, habitual late coming, disobedience or objectionable behaviour of any kind may result in disciplinary action.
• Homework should be done regularly and submitted to the teachers. Students are awarded marks for homework regularity.
• No objectionable reading, video or audio material should be brought or exchanged in the College. If students fail to adhere to it, they will be fined.
• Any kind of damage done to the College property including ink stains/scribbling, writing on the walls, damaging the furniture, misappropriation of the things belonging to others, etc. are serious faults. The damage must be compensated for at the expense of the offender.
• When a student is unable to attend the Class a leave application must be sent to the Principal giving the reason for his/her absence.
• If a student continues to be absent for a month without any intimation to the Principal, his/her name will be struck off from the College rolls.

Students are expected to refrain from:

• Habitual late coming
• Truancy from College assembly/Class/examinations/tests
• Shortage of attendance
• Disinterestedness towards studies
• Using unfair means during the examinations
• Rudeness/Insubordination toward College authority/teachers
• Causing injury to other students
• Failure to participate in the co-curricular programmes of the College, such as P.T., competitions, debates, quizzes, dramatics, etc.
• Misuse of Internet, uploading of damaging and objectionable material on the social websites
• Bringing a motorised vehicle to the College campus
• Developing unhealthy friendship with a boy or a girl
• The meeting of friends who are outsiders on the College campus
• Stealing or helping others to do the same
• Spitting, writing on the walls, on the furniture, etc.
• Vandalising College property, throwing stones, colours, etc.
• Bringing and bursting crackers and explosives on the College campus
• Smoking, drinking, chewing of addictive substances and bringing the same to the College
• Bringing mobile phone, i-pod, etc. to the College
• Bringing objectionable reading, video or audio material to the College

Regularity of Attendance

• Punctual and regular attendance is always insisted upon. Irregularity in attendance is a major disruptive force in a student’s life because it can lead to a lack of sustained interest in studies. Hence, the College takes a serious view of parents who do not ensure their ward’s regular attendance.
• When a student is unable to attend the Class a leave application must be sent to the Principal giving the reason for his/her absence.
• If a student continues to be absent for a month without any intimation to the Principal, his/her name will be struck off from the College rolls.
• Students are all expected to attend the College on the re-opening day after the vacation and on the last working day prior to the vacation, failing which they will face action against them. Absence without leave notice renders the student liable to have his/her name stuck off the rolls. Re-admission may be granted only on the payment of a fresh admission fee.
• All the students are expected to attend the celebration of National Festivals and other important occasions of the College, failing which their marks may be deducted.
• Students of Classes X and XII should note that Admit Cards will not be issued if they fail to attend College till the last working day before the Preparatory leave begins. They should also comply with the Council’s rule on minimum attendance of 75% for the Board Exam.
• Students are accountable to the College authorities for their behavior both in the College and out of the College, particularly when they are in their College uniform.
• If a student is found outside the College premises during working hours without the written permission of the school authorities, the Principal will be forced to take strict disciplinary action.
